The National Climatic Data Center - This web site is a pathway to connect with both national and global climate data sets used by the government and the private sector. The Center has a statutory mission to describe the climate of the United States and it acts as the Nation's scorekeeper regarding the trends and anomalies of weather and climate.
Global Change Master Directory
This directory from U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration
provides descriptions of Earth science data sets and services
relevant to global change research. The GCMD database includes
descriptions of data sets covering agriculture, the atmosphere,
biosphere, hydrosphere and oceans, snow and ice, geology and geophysics,
paleoclimatology, and human dimensions of global change.
NASA's Earth
Observing System
The Earth Observing System Earth Observing System (EOS) is the
centerpiece of NASA's Earth Science Enterprise. It is composed
of a series of satellites, a science component, and a data system
supporting a coordinated series of polar-orbiting and low inclination
satellites for long-term global observations of the land surface,
biosphere, solid Earth, atmosphere, and oceans.
Center for International Earth
Science Information Network (CIESIN)
A center within the Earth Institute at Columbia University, CIESIN
works at the intersection of the social, natural, and information
sciences, and specializes in on-line data and information management,
spatial data integration and training, and interdisciplinary
research related to human interactions in the environment.
Polar
Meteorology Web Module
This is an educational web site developed at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate
School and designed for upper-level undergraduates or graduates
majoring in meteorology, atmospheric science, other polar studies
or other related fields.
World Meteorological
Organization
The WMO is an intergovernmental organization that studies the
state and behavior of the earth’s atmosphere as it relates
to the oceans and the climate. It provides both free and paid
access to publications. Useful site for local weather information,
scientific information, and information on various WMO programs.
