Climate Alert
A principal vehicle for vaulting climate change to policy maker
attention in the U.S. and abroad, the Institute's quarterly newsletter,
Climate Alert
is now in its fourteenth year. During this time Climate Alert
has emerged as the best source for policy makers of likely impacts
of climate change on developing countries. Several Climate Alert
special reports have generated wide public attention. These include
an analysis of climate and energy trends in China, a study of
the vulnerability of the insurance industry in the face of climate
change, and an assessment of the growth of electric cars and other
zero emission vehicles, summaries of national and regional studies
of climate change implications, and reports of key policy developments
concerning international developments on climate change and green
energy. Climate Alert also includes guest columns from some of
the most distinguished and world-renowned experts in the energy,
environmental and public policy arena.
Environmental Exodus: An Emergent Crisis in the Global Arena
Dr. Norman Myers and Jennifer Kent, June 1995, pp.
This analysis of the potential environmental refugee challenge

The Climate Report
This video news series relies on authoritative science from the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report on global
warming and how it will affect our weather, health, and environment.
The first segments explain what we know about climate change and
why we know it. Subsequent segments address projected impacts and
what we can do to curb global warming. "The
Climate Report" provides an opportunity for TV weathercasters
to educate viewers about the interrelationship between weather,
environment, and pollution.
It features stunning new graphics, narration by Ira Flatow of National
Public Radio, and interviews with leading IPCC scientists and other
experts, such as Drs. Dan Albritton, NOAA Aeronomy Laboratory, Tom
Karl, National Climatic Data Center, and Jerry Mahlman, NOAA Geophysical
Fluid Dynamics Laboratory.
"The Climate Report" consists of six two to three minute
broadcast-ready segments and is available FREE to broadcast meteorologists
and weathercasters nationwide.

The Institute's President John Topping was a speaker at the EPA-sponsored "USE
OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAMS AS A SET-ASIDE
FOR STATES TO RESPOND TO THE NOX SIP-CALL" on "Multi-Pollution
Benefits of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs."
