The National Climatic Data Center - This web site is a pathway to connect with both national and global climate data sets used by the government and the private sector. The Center has a statutory mission to describe the climate of the United States and it acts as the Nation's scorekeeper regarding the trends and anomalies of weather and climate.

Global Change Master Directory
This directory from U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration provides descriptions of Earth science data sets and services relevant to global change research. The GCMD database includes descriptions of data sets covering agriculture, the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and oceans, snow and ice, geology and geophysics, paleoclimatology, and human dimensions of global change.

NASA's Earth Observing System
The Earth Observing System Earth Observing System (EOS) is the centerpiece of NASA's Earth Science Enterprise. It is composed of a series of satellites, a science component, and a data system supporting a coordinated series of polar-orbiting and low inclination satellites for long-term global observations of the land surface, biosphere, solid Earth, atmosphere, and oceans.

A center within the Earth Institute at Columbia University, CIESIN works at the intersection of the social, natural, and information sciences, and specializes in on-line data and information management, spatial data integration and training, and interdisciplinary research related to human interactions in the environment.
