Pennsylvania Climate Day
Began April 20, 1999
State Representative, 89th Legislative District Jeffrey W. Coy
was the prime sponsor of House Resolution 133, designating April
20, 1999 as "Climate Day" in Pennsylvania. The formal
copy of the House Resolution reads:
In the House, April 14, 1999
Whereas, It is important to increase the public's awareness of
the climate in relation to the everyday world; and
Whereas, Our forests and agricultural resources are unique treasures
of this Commonwealth and their health and preservation rely heavily
on our climate; and
Whereas, Students should focus on important climate issues and
debate such issues in the classroom and will benefit from experiments,
forums and other dedicated activities that highlight the importance
of climate; and
Whereas, It is important for the general public as well to understand
the importance of weather and climate to our quality of life;
therefore be it
Resolved,That the House of Representatives declare April 20,
1999, as "Climate Day" in Pennsylvania.
I certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of House
Resolution No. 133, introduced by Representatives Jeffrey W. Coy,
Keith R. McCall, Michael R. Veon, and adopted by the House of
Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
