The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an international movement founded in 1856 that now includes over 115 million volunteers1 around the world working to protect human life and health. The Red Cross the Red Crescent Movement are guided by seven fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, Independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.2 The Movement includes the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (the International Federation), both based in Geneva, as well as National Societies in 186 countries.3
