Created in 2007 based on proposals and debates on the issue of Environmental Education and Environmental Problems in the Municipalities of Ceará, Preserving for the Future Program - Prefuturo (or Programa Preservando Para o Futuro - Prefuturo1) was revised and became the National Program Prefuturo with a mission to promote the adoption of principles and strategies for knowledge, protection and restoration of the environment, sustainable use of natural resources, environmental education work in the formal and informal counties, deploy and implement Local Agenda 21, to perform activities of ecotourism, promote, coordinate and implement actions related to education, research , control, prevention and control, reducing deforestation, forest fires, forest fires and pollution of natural resources and in particular biomes deforested and polluted, and conservation units.
