In preparation for future domestic and international regulations on greenhouse gas emissions, many corporations are seeking to learn more about the issues and develop their climate business strategy. This program is designed to guide companies through the process of assessing and addressing their climate change impact by providing training, tools, resources, and workshops.
Recognizing the potential of the private sector to act as an effective agent of social change, the Climate Institute is launching a program that provides corporations with the knowledge and guidance on how to develop a climate business strategy. The Program goal is to help companies and their supply chains develop meaningful strategies to address climate change.
This goal will be accomplished through several mechanisms, including: hosting workshops on developing a corporate climate strategy, offering support to companies trying to engage their supply chains, and helping small and medium sized companies develop their capacity to address the issue.
The Institute has created a guide for business executives on climate change risks, best practices, and also details how corporations can gain economically and environmentally from energy efficiency, renewable energy, offsets, and supply chain management. In addition, a series of workshops are being designed to provide a comprehensive overview on the key issues and questions businesses need to address in order to develop practical strategies toward greenhouse gas management. The trainings will specifically focus on engaging the supply chain, employees, and effectively informing progress to consumers. Environmental achievements on these initiatives will then be translated into consumer education through our Corporate Leadership Recognition program.
Business Guide: the guide is in final draft form and is currently being circulated for feedback. Upon completion, the guide will be available on the website.
